The Consul General, Jorge Islas López, received the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York, who he recognized for their great artistic contribution to Mexico’s cultural heritage through mariachi music and who visits New York as part of their tour “México desde la Raiz”.
They were accompanied by Mariachi Internacional Tapatío de Álvaro Paulino and Mariachi Real de México de Ramón Ponce, bringing together a total of 30 mariachis that performed at Grand Central Station, where they interpreted classic melodies such as Cielito Lindo, Son de la Negra, among others, offering a unique, spontaneous and very emotional experience to all New Yorkers.
