Through its Cultural Institute, the Consulate General of Mexico in New York presents Corazón Migrante Binational Tour 2023 exhibition, which will be open to the public from July 10 to 25, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m at the Octavio Paz Gallery located in The Consulate General of Mexico (27 E 39th St, 2nd Floor, New York 10016)
In a globalized world traversed by immediacy, advertising, and constant stimuli, identities become increasingly liquid. Corazón Migrante Binational Tour 2023 seeks to contribute to constructing the Mexican migrant identity in the United States by recovering elements such as our food, herbs, textiles, and traditions that are part of our cultural heritage.
The identity of Mexican migrants in the United States arises from the diversity of experiences, our immense cultural heritage, and a social, political, and economic context that goes hand in hand with the creation of artistic expressions.
The artistic expression thus becomes a territory of resilience and pride, preservation and transmission of all those elements that identify us as Mexicans, inside or outside the imaginary borders that separate one territory from another.
The Binational Tour 2023 constitutes a stimulating challenge since it seeks to showcase its exhibition throughout 17/19 Consulates in the United States. Presenting the artwork from 23 Mexican migrant artists residing in different cities in the United States, Corazón Migrante aims to promote creative and artistic projects linked to the mexican community living abroad.
